Natural Gas Conversions: A Fountain of Youth for Aging Plants?
As the world looks to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the need for reliable, baseload power continues to grow. Our John Koslosky shared insights in Modern Power Systems magazine on how coal-to-gas conversions can be an economical solution to extend the useful life of these plants while reducing emissions.
Coming Soon: New AI Data Center, Powered by B&W Technology
B&W's wholly owned Mountaineer C2H, LLC subsidiary has teamed with Fidelis New Energy to develop a BrightLoop™ hydrogen production and carbon capture facility at Fidelis' GigaSystem™ site in Mason County, West Virginia. The plan for the carbon-neutral energy generated is to power the on-site artificial intelligence (AI) data center campus.
Circulating News About Chemical Looping's Advantages
In advance of his presentation on BrightLoop chemical looping for decarbonized clean energy at the International Biomass Conference & Expo on March 19, Will Latta was interviewed for a podcast hosted by Biomass Magazine. Will discussed current BrightLoop projects, policy impacts, scalability, market interest, strategic partnerships, and more.
People Spotlight: Lifelong Learners
This year during National Engineers Week (Feb. 16-22), we celebrated our amazing employees and the universities that helped inspire them to be bright, life-long learners. They each bring unique skills and perspectives but all have something in common: a passion for finding a Better Way.
Project Spotlight: FPS Coal-to-Gas Conversion
As the project's EPC contractor, FPS completed two coal-to-gas conversions for TransAlta in Alberta, Canada. With the conversions, the two units maintained their full nameplate capacity while realizing a CO2 per megawatt reduction of more than 50 percent.
Asked&Answered: Submerged Grind Conveyors
Q. Why is water used in your submerged grind conveyors (SGC)?
A. In our patented SGC, water is used to improve fuel efficiency and emissions control. Water-filled ash collection hoppers and supported water seals optimize O2 levels and minimize NOx.
