B&W's state-of-the-art, $12 million pilot plant for the study of solvent-based carbon dioxide capture processes provides high quality, quantitative performance data representative of full-scale equipment. It treats 3,100 pounds per hour of flue gas from B&W's coal-fired Small Boiler Simulator facility - equating to about 7 tons per day of captured CO2.
The capture plant can also be operated in recirculation mode using a synthetic mixture of nitrogen and CO2. Since its 2009 commissioning, numerous solvents have been tested successfully in this facility.
