Babcock & Wilcox Construction Co., Inc. (BWCC) is committed to performing every work activity in a safe and accident-free manner.

In order to achieve these goals, BWCC has established systems, methods and controls to safety execute construction work. Our safety program also covers specialized environment and OSHA requirements.

The Company has adopted "Target Zero" as a vision for continuous safety improvement. Through Target Zero, the company strives to perform all work activities on all construction projects free of accidents. Additionally, the Company has adopted a working slogan to assist our employees in establishing immediate goals - the slogan adopted is "To Finish Each and Every Day Incident and Injury Free"

The guiding principles to achieve this vision are:

Accident statistics are used to measure progress in attaining safety goals for the fiscal year. Statistics are compiled in a monthly report to all levels of management. These statistics are cumulative for each project, project manager, construction manager and the Company.

Each member of management and all superintendents are assigned a Safety Program Manual. The manual is in compliance with 29 CFR Part 1926 of the OSHA Regulations. The manual may be customized to include specific requirements of the Customer. Following are examples of topics addressed in the manual: Medical Facilities & Treatment; Safety Training; Hazards Communication Program; Accident & Personnel Injury Reporting; Personnel Protective Equipment; Housekeeping; Lifting Equipment; Hand Tools; Fall Protection; Scaffolds & Ladders; Floors, Wall Openings, and Stairways; Fire Protection; Air Sampling; Respiratory Protection; Inorganic Arsenic; Lead; Disciplinary Action; Project Site Safety Inspections; Emergency Response; and Job Safety Analysis.

Employee training is another key element in a successful safety program. The following are examples of training conducted to each employee:

Safety representatives are assigned to specific projects. The representatives' responsibilities are to assist the project superintendent in assuring implementation of the Safety Program. They report to the corporate safety manager and have the responsibility and authority to stop any work activity that creates a safety hazard. Other responsibilities include:

Safety evaluations of all construction projects are conducted by the Corporate Safety group. Written reports are prepared and distributed to appropriate levels of management. Project sites are required to respond in writing describing corrective actions implemented for any identified deficiencies.
