Since 1971, B&W's flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems, or scrubbers, have operated efficiently, economically and reliably.
Our FGD technologies offer the highest SO2 reduction levels in the industry.
We are a full-scope supplier. In addition to providing flue gas absorber modules, we can supply complete scrubbing systems, including reagent preparation, dewatering and recycling, and related system equipment.
Our FGD products include:
- Wet FGD systems: Spray tower scrubber design used for SO2 control, with patented tray design for more uniform flue gas distribution and improved absorption. Reagents include limestone; also lime, magnesium-enhanced lime, sodium carbonate and ammonia.
- Dry FGD systems: A rotary atomizer delivers a slurry of an alkaline reagent into the hot flue gas to absorb the SO2 - principal alternative to wet scrubbing for SO2 control on utility boilers burning low sulfur coals; also popular for smaller utility and industrial applications and for combined HCl and SO2 control on waste-to-energy units. Reagents include lime slurry and optional recycled flyash.
