Since 1971, B&W's flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems, or scrubbers, have operated efficiently, economically and reliably.
Our FGD technologies offer the highest SO2 reduction levels in the industry. B&W PGG is the exclusive North American licensee for Enviroserv Gmbh's Circulating Dry Scrubber (CDS) technology. With this addition, B&W PGG has a unique capability to objectively evaluate each application and then engineer and supply the best overall solution.
We are a full-scope supplier. In addition to providing flue gas absorber modules, we can supply complete scrubbing systems, including reagent preparation, dewatering and recycling, and related system equipment integrated in an optimal approach to reduce overall cost.
Our SO2 control products include:
- Wet FGD systems: Spray tower scrubber design used for SO2 control, with proven tray design for more uniform flue gas distribution and improved absorption. Reagents include limestone, lime, magnesium-enhanced lime, sodium carbonate and ammonia.
- Spray Dry Absorber (SDA) systems: A rotary atomizer delivers a slurry of an alkaline reagent into the hot flue gas to absorb the SO2 and other acid gases control on utility boilers burning low sulfur coals. B&W's SDA systems are also popular for smaller utility and industrial applications and for combined HCl and SO2 control on waste-to-energy units. Reagents include lime slurry and optional recycled flyash.
- Circulating Dry Scrubber (CDS) systems: Creates a dry waste product and does not require wastewater treatment facility. Ideal for smaller units and waste-to-energy plants firing medium to high sulfur coals. Small footprint for plant locations with limited space. Reagents include hydrated lime and recycled byproduct.
