B&W has successfully designed, manufactured and used cast Grade 91 (9Cr-1Moly-V) pressure parts in critical superheater applications.
With this new, creep resistant material we are able to investment cast complex shapes with high repeatability, tight dimensional control and excellent internal quality and surface finish.
The castings can readily meet ASME code radiographic requirements, allowing 100 percent casting design factors for reduced weight and section thickness. Surface contours can be carefully controlled which aids in fatigue resistance and flexibility when compared to assembled parts using welding and conventional forming techniques.
