B&W offers FPS gas igniters that are a careful integration of combustion technology, flame stability and flame monitoring.
The advance igniter design was developed to achieve superior flame ignition with lower opacity. The gas igniter is designed to fire natural gas or propane.
The gas igniter serves a dual purpose because of its wide heat-input range. It offers a virtually pollution-free method of boiler warm-up when operated at maximum heat release, and with proper controls, operates at an economically reduced heat input for main fuel light-off and ignition support. It is designed as a simple plug-in replacement with little or no modifications necessary to the rest of the burner.
The following FPS igniter design features enhance performance by eliminating many of the difficulties associated with conventional ignition hardware, thereby reduce maintenance costs:
- Stationary design eliminates difficulties with igniter insert/retract cylinders and limit switches found on other igniters

- Integral flame scanner which senses only the igniter flame in any burner/boiler configuration

FPS gas igniters are used in a variety of utility boiler applications; including front or opposed wall firing, turbo furnace, cell burners and low NOx burners. The industrial and pulp and paper markets also benefit from our gas igniter technology, including lime kilns and CO boilers. A retractable gas igniter is available for special pulp and paper applications.
Complete pre-assembled fuel trains consisting of double block and vent valves, manual isolation valve, fuel pressure indicators and a local control cabinet are available and custom fabricated to control one to four igniters.
