Boiler Replacement Parts: FPS Corner-Fired Igniters: Oil Horn

B&W offers replacement FPS oil horn igniters for corner-fired boiler applications.

Our in-depth knowledge in the field of ignition equipment has enabled us to implement significant design improvements and produce efficient, reliable igniters for either partial upgrades or complete replacement.

The oil horn igniter is designed to burn light oil providing up to 6 million Btu per hour heat input. An optional booster gun is available to provide an additional 14 million Btu per hour heat input. Adding the booster gun allows the igniter to be used for warm-up and load support as well as main fuel ignition.

All horn igniters use the SunSpot flame rod for flame detection and a self cleaning plasma arc ignition system (PAI) for spark ignition. A strong blow torch type flame ensures excellent main fuel ignition.

FPS oil horn igniters are designed to fit standard windbox arrangements. Custom designs are available for applications where the original burner structure has been modified. The horn igniters are supplied with a mounting/adapter plate and gasket to mount on the existing bolt arrangement, making igniter installation very simple. The igniter is designed to use existing windbox air, with an option available for an external combustion air system. The igniter can be mounted in existing horns or if required, new cast stainless steel horns with mounting hardware, are available to replace deteriorated or damaged horns. A local control cabinet/valve rack and an external air system are available if required.

Each oil horn igniter is supplied with the following environmentally sealed peripheral components:

• Plasma Arc Ignition (PAI) power pack in a NEMA 4 enclosure
• SunSpot flame detector electronic module
• Oil hose with quick disconnect coupler
• Atomizing air hose with quick disconnect coupler
• (2) Brass-braided flex conduit assemblies for igniter electrical connections (flame detector and spark ignition)
• Igniter mounting plate with gasket
