Biogas Purification Systems

B&W MEGTEC offers two variations of biogas purification equipment—water scrubbing and amine scrubbing. Each can be tailored to suit your specific needs. Both systems remove particulate, H2S, CO2,
H2O and siloxanes from digester, wastewater treatment, landfill, or other biogas streams.

Water Scrubbing
B&W MEGTEC water scrubbing systems include a high-pressure packed media bed, chemical-free operation, and air stripper for removing CO2 and H2S with minimal methane loss. And to reduce water usage, the wash water system is regenerative, as opposed to a single-pass system. These systems are skid-mounted and modular in design, allowing for easy installation and servicing.

Amine Scrubbing
Our amine scrubbing technology is a two-drier system which utilizes the affinity ethanolamine (MEA) has for carbon dioxide to selectively remove it from the methane via a packed counter-flow
scrubbing column. The amine within the system is regenerated when the CO2 is released by heat from an integrated boiler system. After drying, the CO2 stream can be compressed or liquefied and used as a commercially saleable product.
