Babcock & Wilcox User Group Associations

Cyclone Users Association
CycloneThe Cyclone Users Association consists of some 40 utility and industrial members who operate the nearly 100 cyclone-fired boilers built between the late 1950s and 1997 and still in service today. This Association was founded in 1976 to bring together knowledgeable people from the users organizations with the designers/suppliers of the equipment to discuss the various challenges faced while operating and maintaining wet bottom cyclone-fired boiler equipment.

While cyclone boiler operation and maintenance are the key items of discussion, at the members' request, much time has been devoted in recent meetings to the subjects of emissions (NOx) reduction and unit conversions to western (powder river basin, or PRB) coal-firing on cyclone boilers.

The format of the meeting includes technical presentations with question-and-answer sessions. We invite and expect lively, open discussion to learn from each other and develop a better idea of what it takes to obtain and maintain good availability and reliability.
