B&W Subsidiary Acquires Swedish Environmental Company
BARBERTON, Ohio., January 5, 2010
Denmark-based Babcock & Wilcox Vølund A/S (B&W Vølund), a subsidiary of Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group, Inc. (B&W PGG), has acquired Götaverken Miljö AB (GMAB), a flue gas cleaning and energy recovery company based in Gothenburg, Sweden. B&W Vølund is one of the world's leading suppliers of equipment and technologies designed to convert household waste and bio-fuels into thermal energy. B&W PGG is an operating subsidiary of The Babcock & Wilcox Company.
"B&W Vølund and B&W PGG are industry leaders in technologies that support biomass-based energy generation, and this acquisition adds to the portfolio of services that we can provide to customers around the world," said B&W PGG President and Chief Operating Officer Richard L. GMAB's offerings include complete turn-key flue gas cleaning plants and energy recovery systems tailor-made for the customers' specific needs. The company specializes in wet flue gas cleaning, energy recovery sub-systems and absorbers for dioxin removal. The acquisition of GMAB further strengthens B&W Vølund's ability to provide a unique combination of high-quality products, broad multi-disciplinary experience, empirical designs and strong project management skills to a variety of customers. Terms of the purchase are not being disclosed.
