CAMBRIDGE, Ontario, Canada, August 7, 2009

Babcock & Wilcox Canada Ltd. (B&W Canada) will ship the second of two replacement nuclear once-through steam generators (OTSGs) for Progress Energy Florida's Crystal River Unit 3 this week.

Each replacement OTSG weighs 465 tons, measures 73 feet long and 12 feet in diameter and will replace the existing nuclear steam generators at the 860 megawatt Unit 3.

"Manufactured in the world's largest nuclear clean room, these units will play an integral role in the energy mix of our trade partner and have created a substantial amount of work for the people of B&W Canada and the associated large supplier base," said Mike Lees, President, B&W Canada. "We've provided skilled, high-end nuclear manufacturing jobs in Ontario for over 50 years and have some of the best engineers in Canada with unique skills and tools for designing nuclear components."

The completed vessel will ship from the Cambridge facility by rail on August 7 to the Port of Toronto, where it will be loaded onto a heavy lift ship for transport to the Port of Tampa on August 10.

B&W Canada's Cambridge operations total 398,000 square feet, have a capacity of more than 1 million shop man hours and employ approximately 800 people. B&W Canada has designed and manufactured 299 nuclear steam generators. As a key supplier to both the CANDU and PWR market, B&W Canada has developed a core competency in the design and supply of critical components for the nuclear industry.
