J. Greg Meyer appointed general manager of NNSA's Pantex plant
LYNCHBURG, Va., April 11, 2008 Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Pantex, LLC (B&W TSG Pantex) has named J. Greg Meyer general manager of the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas, effective immediately. Pantex Plant, a Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) facility, is managed and operated by B&W TSG Pantex, whose partners are Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services Group, Inc., Honeywell International, Inc. and Bechtel National, Inc.
Mr. Meyer will be responsible for operations management and the achievement of NNSA's missions at the Pantex facility, including supervising program management activities and operational activities, and providing general management oversight. Mr. Meyer replaces Dan J. Swaim.
"Greg has demonstrated his ability to successfully lead and manage operations of the Pantex Plant," said S. Robert Cochran, president of B&W TSG. "His experience in senior management roles coupled with his knowledge of the DOE environment more than prepares him for this new role. I am confident that under his direction, Pantex will continue to achieve the high production levels established at the nuclear weapons complex."
Mr. Meyer has extensive nuclear operations and safety experience and has held significant senior management positions in operations, project management, and support management at three DOE sites: Hanford, Richland, Wash.; Savannah River, Aiken, S.C.; and Rocky Flats, Golden, Colo. Mr. Meyer had a 24-year-career in the U. S. Navy that included assignments as Commanding Officer of the USS Scranton (SSN-756) and an overseas diplomatic assignment representing the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He received his B.S. in Marine Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He is certified as a Certified Safety Professional and Project Management Professional.
