Paul Williams receives B&W Engineering Honors Award

BARBERTON, Ohio, February 25, 2008 Paul J. Williams was named the recipient of Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group's (B&W PGG) prestigious Engineering Honors Award at a ceremony held Feb. 20 in Barberton. He received the award for his role in the emergence and success of the company's environmental control technologies over the past nearly 40 years. The award coincided with National Engineers Week - a 57-year tradition that celebrates the field of engineering - observed February 17-23.

Williams began his career at B&W as a college co-op in 1970. After earning a bachelor's of science degree in chemical engineering from The University of Akron in 1974, he was hired as a service engineer assistant in the company's Cincinnati office. He returned to Barberton in 1978, and went on to hold various positions of increasing responsibility in technical product development and engineering management. In 2006, he was named a Technical Fellow for Process Technology, a distinction he currently holds.

Williams has been awarded five patents, published several technical papers, developed B&W standards and was a lead author of B&W's flagship publication, Steam: its generation and use.
