Overview

B&W's Nuclear Operations Group, with manufacturing facilities located in Barberton, OH, and on the Ohio River in Mount Vernon, IN, specialize in the design and manufacture of large, heavy components with close tolerance and high-quality requirements. Both facilities are supported by an experienced staff of design, welding and manufacturing engineers capable of performing full scope, prototype design work coupled with manufacturing integration on the shop floor.

Approximately 475 people are employed at the Barberton facility. Barberton's workforce is unionized (Local 900) and is represented by the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers. Approximately 100 people are employed at the Mount Vernon facility.

NOD continues to focus on providing customers with on-time delivery of high-quality, affordable products. During the coming years, NOD expects to expand production by coupling its highly skilled workforce and professional staff with the extensive upgrades in equipment capabilities and capacities This effective integration of personnel strengths and talents with both facilities' state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities will provide customers, employees and communities with top-quality products, growth opportunities and positive business conditions.

Infrastructure

NOD's Barberton facility includes 69 acres, with 800,000 square feet of manufacturing area and 119,000 square feet of office area. The Mount Vernon facility, located on the Ohio River, includes 580,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 61,000 square feet of office space. The main manufacturing bay of the Mount Vernon facility is serviced by two 500-ton cranes, which extend over a barge dock on the Ohio River. With up to 1000-tons combined lift capacity, these cranes are accessible to ocean-going barges, providing import and export capability of heavy components to the world.

Both facilities recently completed an extensive upgrade in equipment capabilities including multiple, large, full-contouring CNC horizontal and vertical machining centers, large gantry robotic welding centers and state-of-the-art support equipment for machining and welding.
