Babcock & Wilcox Canada's R&D activities have led to the development of our unique nuclear steam generator design with features that differentiate it from the competition
Lattice grid tube supports
These internal stainless steel structures support thousands of steam generator tubes to resist vibration and any large motion due to postulated earthquakes etc. The low pressure drop, very high strength and corrosion resisting characteristics of these structures is a combination unequalled in the industry. We have lattice grid steam generators in the field which have operated for over 25 years without so much as one tube being plugged.
Separators
The steam-water separators used in our steam generators are the result of over 25 years of continuous testing and development. Poor separator performance can affect power plant output and result in extensive equipment damage. Our separators are tested in detail before deployment, and consistently perform well above specified requirements. This results in increased plant output and long term reliability. B&W Canada's separators have, by far, the best performance in the world.
Circulation
Circulation ratio is the internal ratio of flow rate in the steam generator to actual steam output flow rate. Our steam generators achieve the highest circulation ratios in the industry, a significant contributor to our record setting reliability.
Feedwater System
The all welded, leak-tight design, corrosion-erosion resistant feedwater system is accessible for internal inspection.
