B&W Nuclear Power Generation Group has aligned its resources to meet the needs of the Nuclear Renaissance.
Some of those resources reside within the manufacturing facility of Mount Vernon Works in Mount Vernon, Indiana. The Mount Vernon plant provides an infrastructure and the skilled employees necessary to fabricate commercial nuclear components that require close tolerances. The site has experienced design and manufacturing engineers capable of performing full scope, prototype design work coupled with manufacturing integration on the shop floor. The Mount Vernon facility, located on the Ohio River, includes 220,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 17,000 square feet of office space. The main manufacturing bay of the Mount Vernon facility is serviced by two 500-ton cranes, which extend over a barge dock on the Ohio River. The plant has broad and deep engineering and manufacturing capabilities applied to producing heavy-equipment components including:
Engineering Capabilities:
- Applied Mechanics
- Fluid Mechanics/Heat Transfer Processes
- Metallurgy/Materials Engineering
- Welding/Robotics Engineering
- Integrated CAD/CAM Computer Systems
- R&D Programs focused on product improvement
Manufacturing Capabilities:
