John A. Fees
Chief Executive Officer
John A. Fees is Chief Executive Officer of The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W), headquartered in Lynchburg, Va. Mr. Fees assumed this position in January 2007 upon consolidation of The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) and BWX Technologies, Inc. (BWXT). The consolidation resulted in the creation of a global energy company that focuses primarily on fossil and nuclear technologies development, management, operations, and technical services. With locations around the world, B&W has projected revenues of $3 billion and employs over 20,000 people.
Prior to his appointment as CEO, Mr. Fees served as President and Chief Operating Officer of BWXT, responsible for all BWXT nuclear operations in the U.S., which includes 11 major government sites with annual budgets exceeding $1 billion and two owned and operated nuclear manufacturing facilities with budgets exceeding $500 million.
In 1979, Mr. Fees joined BWXT Nuclear Operations Division in Lynchburg. There he managed Engineering and Project Management for national security programs. In 1993, he transferred to Diamond Power International, Inc., the world's largest supplier of boiler cleaning equipment, where he served as General Manager of Manufacturing. A year later, Mr. Fees was named President of Diamond Power. In 1997, Mr. Fees was appointed President of BWXT Services, Inc., (BWXS), which manages complex, high-consequence nuclear and national security operations.
Mr. Fees has a degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Engineering Management from George Washington University. He is a member of the Nuclear Energy Institute's Board of Directors, which sets broad policy on the industry, and a Board member of the National Association of Manufacturers, which enhances the competitiveness of manufacturers by shaping a legislative and regulatory environment. Mr. Fees also serves on numerous Boards of Directors in which BWXT is a corporate member, including Los Alamos National Security, LLC, and Battelle Energy Alliance.
